Navarre Beach has plenty to offer nature lovers besides the ocean. There are plenty of great places to fish, and you can also opt to go snorkeling if you want to check out some of the unique wildlife hidden just under the water. If you aren't feeling quite brave enough to snorkel, you can head to the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center to see wildlife without going underwater. Another great nature attraction is the Panhandle Butterfly House, which is in the town of Navarre on the mainland.
The biggest thing that differentiates Navarre Beach from other beach towns in Florida is the atmosphere. Everything is very family-friendly, and while there's plenty to do, it never gets too crowded. If you like your beaches to be quiet and serene, this is the perfect place to go. You may even get part of the beach completely to yourself if you come at the right time. There are hotels and B&Bs in the area, but renting a house is typically the way to go when visiting Navarre. They are typically affordable, and you'll have plenty of space to spread out and relax
Blackwater River State Park is located in northwest Florida and spans over 600 acres of land. This expansive land is known for its sand-bottomed rivers, which are popular places for water sports like tubing and canoeing. In fact, it is considered to be the only clean sand river left in the United States. It is also known for its Atlantic cedar trees, which are some of the largest in the country. It is an approximately 45-minute drive northeast from Pensacola, and only slightly longer to reach the coast. The nearest town is Milton.
Blackwater River State Park is a popular spot for camping when the weather is pleasant. The park has 30 campgrounds that you can take advantage of, and it is RV friendly as well. Pets are allowed, and many of the campsites offer an electrical hookup as well. You will need to book your campsite ahead of time, which you can do online. There is a $4 fee to enter the park. If you don't want to stay overnight, you can still have a picnic in the park at one of the many pavilions. From there, you can use the many trails to go on a nature walk or even head down to a swimming hole.
At Adventures Unlimited, you have the opportunity to experience canoeing unlike anywhere in the world. The spring-fed rivers(under ideal conditions) flow at an average depth of two to three feet (some places are six feet deep or deeper) over a soft, sandy bottom through a pristine state forest. Please be aware that river conditions can change quickly. Several inches of rain can bring the river up significantly in a short period of time. The preserve protects one of Florida's last remaining tracts of wet prairie, including the largest community of pitcher plants in the state. There are no recreational facilities in the preserve, but the sweeping landscapes of the pitcher plant prairies offer a tremendous opportunity for photography and nature appreciation.
There are many trails that run through the state park that are popular among hikers, trail runners, and bikers. While the elevation is not too challenging, there are trails of varying lengths for all skill levels. These trails are also great places to bird watch and just immerse yourself in nature.

If you've never tried these activities before, the park is a perfect place to start because of its serene atmosphere. There are many nearby shops that offer rentals and guided tours for both sports. There are also many places where fishing is allowed.

Although it is a very unique natural surrounding, it's still very convenient, located just a short drive away from a major international airport. There are also plenty of lodging options and other conveniences in the nearby town of Milton.
